Busy

Well we are getting back to the grind this week making more calls. We've been tooling copper for a decorative call and just about finished with it. We also got the info on the Octoberfest booth rental and getting that sorted out now. We've got a lot of work to do before then...

It's Good

We are getting some good feedback on the calls we've got out there. Had a couple of people that have struck up a few with them. Sold another call to someone from Portland, TN over the weekend. Hope they do well with it. Hoping to see some pictures this spring! We've got some good stuff coming for the Octoberfest. If your around Gallatin that weekend, stop and see us. We don't disappoint!...

Field Call One

Our first field grade call is finally dialed in and ready to be made over and over. It is an all cedar call, the one in the pic has a turkey head on it, which will cost extra...plain field call with no paintings or carvings are going for 30 dollars. We should have about 35 done by octoberfest. Can't wait to see how they do. They will hunt...

We back

Back from vacation, it seemed so fast. Anyway...went by Copeland Flooring yesterday and got some oak, brazilian cherry, and cedar stock. Finished the lid for a custom piece last night, she looks pretty good. Today me and Johnny are going to plane down the materials I got yesterday and get them ready to talk turkey. Counting down to Octoberfest. Can't wait...

Vacation

Today was a pretty good day. Saw an old friend and gave him a custom call. We will get him a field call before long. Just about to go away for a week of fishing and relaxation so I was really bustin it today trying to finish some lids. Got enough done to make about 30 calls. That should do it for now. More when I get back...

Progress

Yesterday we got about 20 lids rough cut and also got the plans finished for our new call. Making progress on a custom call with a full strutter on the lid. It's taking forever, but it's going to be worth it. I am appreciating my dad today for allowing us to use his shop. He's probably going to get tired of the sawdust eventually, but I enjoy his company and I think he enjoys mine as well. He has really helped us out cutting out raw cedar into blanks for me. Retirement must be good, he is where I want to be! Getting ready for vacation soon, so I probably won't post for a week or so. Pics when I am back...

The Goods

Today we are making up some of our own blanks. Cedar, poplar, brazilian cherry, and oak will be the fare. Can't wait to make that wood holler at birds! I'm guessing by the weekend we will get started on our decorative call for the 2010 NWTF convention in Nashville. Trying to do a full strutter out of cedar. Yes...lifesize and all. We are also making preparations for Octoberfest on the square. Finally got our design done for the shirts. I will post pics when they are done. Until next time...

Done today

Didn't get to work on anything today. I did score some cedar from my wifes cousin. I am working with him tommorow evening at his sawmill to cut and plane some blanks. Got a new concept drawing finished today too. Anxious to get that dude turned out! I'm sure it's gonna turn some toms on their heads. Until tommorow...

W-O-R-K

Back to the everyday grind today. I am moving paper around and Johnny is laying pipe somewhere. Maybe one day we can concentrate on just making calls and thats it. Did have a bit of news last night. Seems Johnny finally decided to take the plunge and offer himself up on the marriage block. That's a good thing, his gal is pretty cool.(she knows she is marrying a hunter!) Can't wait to get off and play in the sawdust...

Dreaming

Pretty laid back today. Carved out feathers for a custom call. Finished out sanding on prototype # 6. It sounds pretty good, just got some kinks to work out. I am proud it is taking so long for this thing to develop. We are really trying to take our time and put in the hard work and research to turn a high quality product out for the public. Going to an auction Saturday to hopefully bid on a wood lathe. Still looking for a permanent shop. It's good though, Micheal Waddell will call soon...
